Roaming Computing System (Windows Edition) 3.1 - Server Setup

The server runs the Debian GNU/Linux operating system, version 3.1 'Sarge', freely available from debian.org. This server is setup using techniques described in a couple of our documents.

For most of the server setup use Twix to setup these sections from 'Server Setup with Debian 3.1 Sarge':

• General Configuration
• RAID arrays (unless your server has hardware RAID)
• Mail server
• Print server
• MySQL - database server
• SSH server (sshd)
• Webmin - graphical and remote administration
• in particular the following sub-set of webmin packages: webmin-apache, webmin-burner, webmin-fetchmail, webmin-filemanager, webmin-grub, webmin-mailboxes, webmin-mysql, webmin-postfix, webmin-samba, webmin-smart-status, webmin-software, webmin-spamassassin, webmin-sshd, webmin-status, webmin-updown

Setup backup to USB-attached hard disk using the backup script at Auto backup a server to a hotswap USB disk

Setup the Samba domain and print sharing for Windows by following 'Setting up a Samba 3 primary domain controller and file/print/software deployment server, using Debian 3.1 Sarge'
